PlayStation 5 users can now utilize Apple Pay to purchase games directly from their consoles. Previously, Apple Pay was only accessible through browsers or the PlayStation mobile app. This new integration allows Apple Pay to join other on-console payment options like credit/debit cards and PayPal.
The feature employs a QR code method introduced with iOS 18. When selecting Apple Pay at checkout, a QR code appears on the TV screen. Users can scan this code with their iPhone, which then opens a checkout screen for transaction confirmation.

Currently, this update supports select regions, including the United States. Additionally, Apple Card users can benefit from a 2% cashback on these purchases. There are also indications that this feature may be extended to PS4 consoles in a future software update.
This development enhances the purchasing experience for PS5 users, offering a seamless and secure payment method directly from the console.
